Hi Folks I thought I’d introduce myself.
April 1 of this year (yes April fools day) I purchased a 1974 Super Seven with a tall block Twin Cam. I guess I’ve wanted one since an associate of my Dad took me for a ride in his Lotus 6, 46 years later and nothing has changed, Wow!
Living in Canada any Lotus is a rare sight, every journey I take grows by at least 15 minutes at the start and end as I answer questions from complete strangers. The driving experience, well I won’t bore you but all the heat, cramped conditions, noise, dirt, rocks, tooth loosening ride etc. can’t take the edge off the thrill.
Thanks for reading … Andy.

Nice car Andy, Sevens are rare up here (genuine ones at least):)

Do you know Norm Brown? , he has a 1970 Seven he has owned since 1973.

He's a friend and lives in Belleville.

This is his Seven and my Turbo Esprit.

Thanks Wayne, "genuine" is misleading when talking about my car as it's neither a Lotus nor a Caterham. It was purchased in 1974 and appears to be an "in between" car. The plate in the engine compartment says, "Seven Cars Ltd, Caterham" which I believe Graham Nearn called the manufacturing side of his business in the early days but I'm not sure. The car was originally powered by a crossflow engine.
I don't think I know Norm although if he's a member of the Eastern Canada Lotus Club I might have met him as I joined 2 clubs during my search for a car.

Thanks Mark, the last owner stripped polished and painted the rims with varathane paint himself some 10 years ago and they are still holding up well. However the brake calipers which received the same paint treatment are slowly turning brown:ohmy:

When was it imported into Canada, Andy?

It wouldnt have been sold as a new car here (legally) in 1974, as the Seven didnt meet Federal impact regs that were adopted here (in 1973)

I dont think Norm is a member of the Eastern Ontario Lotus Club (I am not either) but he is in the Boot and Bonnet Club.

According to the original owner, I was lucky to meet him at my first "cruise" he imported it late in 1974.

Great looking Seven! I'm with Mark, those wheels are amazing.

They are Revolution wheels, very strong and light design.

I wish someone had told my spare wheel carrier they are light. It decided to leave the car only 2 weeks after I took delivery, luckily I had just exited the highway. Also I was lucky to be using the original strap so only the carrier dangled from the license plate wire until I came to a stop.

Never a dull moment:)

Hi Andy welcome to the forum, its a great place here you will enjoy it.

Thats a lovely looking 7 you have there.

Wayne are they Revolutions with megnesium centres? Top wheels if they are. They should be stamped on the inside to confirm this anyway.

Crossed wires, I only own a Seven. The photo of both cars belongs to Wayne and features his Esprit and his buddies Seven.

So do I get bored only owning a Seven? The answer is no, cos when I'm not driving it I'm either bolting bits back on or polishing all that aluminum!

If they are the racing ones they will be Magnesium (and the rims will need polishing every 10 mins!)

More than likely the Alloy street version (still a good wheel):)

Pat Mannion who owned the company first used them on an Imp Supersaloon he raced in the late 70's.
