Here you go matey ive upped you one for adding white table cloth and cheese board. :icon18:
Our boarder pictured did his first driver training day yesterday at the track and I think hes now hooked on the whole track day experience. The wing at one stage was full of tuck shop burgers, hot chips and drinks from the other Lotus guys but managed to snap this before packing away. :flowers:
Your turn......

Boy that photo with the old boat tail pointed out by Brian and what appears to be an older Porsche really shows how much more style cars had back in the day! IMO anyway...

The boat tail car appears to be some sort of 1930's Aston-Martin Ulster replica . Ulster refers to that particular type of bodystyle. Probably Jaguar based IMO.

Hi ill try and get some information, I never did catch up with the owner. But has the initials AJS on the grill. I did a google on this and brings up classic motorcycles. So I am not sure if this is a one off or not. Ill get back.

Heres another interesting project, you either love it or hate it. Of course you can pick its a jag but its had the rear chopped out and made into a ute  The engine well the plate says 454ute. I am unsure which engine its running but did sound like a modded Rover v8 rather than chevy. Definately different!

I have to agree with you, Wayne. I just love the styling of the Series III. They are reasonably robust and are great daily drivers. I never thought about the V12 before... but that would be soooooo much fun to drive. What kind of gas mileage do you get with the 12?

A friend of mine has a gorgeous 87(i think) Black XJ6 VDP for sale.... I know the entire service history on the car.... maybe I should go look at it?

My favorite Jag is the XJ13! Greatest Jag styling ever IMO... I'd love a replica (as the real deal cannot be had).

Mine gets around 15 to 20 mpg-ish depending on the way I am driving it.
It goes great and will still go over 130mph (80,000kms on the clock)
My friend Don bought a brand new 1988 six months ago with under 10,000 kms on it, and its absolutely superb.
When you see nice ones it really gets you going in a good way, there are so many rusty old beat up ones around that people think they are worthless pieces of crap till they see a nice one!:)
What else (besides an XJS) can you buy so cheap fitted with a V12 engine?

Cameron, did you know Mike Kimberley was part of the team at Jaguar that built the original XJ-13?
Going to see it in October!:icon18:

Yes, I have a great article on the XJ13 from some years ago. Sad they did not take the car from the "LeMans" program into some sort of production. They revisited the design as a study a few years ago... I say study be damned and build the car! Such a great looking machine....:mf_dribble:

When I was working at the Browns Lane Jaguar factory in the 70's the procurement department had a series 1 XJ6 which had been converted to a pick-up by chopping the back of the roof off and removing the boot lid. A piece of plywood served as the wall between the cockpit and load bay.

USAndretti42 - So perhaps thats where got the inspiration from eh?? Despite its rather odd looks its finished really well and no shoddy workmanship that we could see. What ever floats ya boat so they say :001_unsure:
Regarding the AJS, heres what I have found :
The AJS is a special built by a chap, out in Alfriston South Auckland. Jag motor, steel body, running gear and chassis by the owner. Owner loves the look of 1930's cars but couldn't afford a Blower Bentley, and didn't want the maintinence hassles. One of the few who drives his car to SCCNZ events, the rest of us are wimps or "still working on it", he's well hard in goggle and flying helmet, looks the part.
There is a write up here

My friend Leonard Piercy (ex Ford UK Styling)has been working on a Riley Brooklands Special that has a similar bodystyle to that AJS.
He has been working on it for 20 years to my knowledge and has another 10 to go by the look of it last time I saw it.
Problem is he is 78.
Fun stuff though.:)
ps. no I am not cutting the back off my Jag to make a Ute.
(I already have an Elcamino.)
