Looking for '73 lotus Europa special TC front brake calipers. Anyone have any in good condition for sale? I have a stuck piston in left front brake and might need to replace it. Bobbyjudge

I can normally get a stuck brake caliper piston out by either using a compressed air pistol (with the tapered rubber end ) in the fluid entry port (calipers off the car and pads removed ) or on the car by leaving the pad on the free side , removing the pad on the stuck side and pushing the brake pedal down till it pops free (messy)

You can also unbolt and split the Girling caliper halves and blow the piston out with the air gun via the distribution ports (after blocking the inlet port If the stuck piston is on that side) Be carefull as when the piston breaks free it can fly out with some force (you could wrap the caliper in an old towel to contain it)

Thanks for that info, we got the calipers off and took out the pads and pumped on the brakes and pushed the pistons out that way. It worked and cleaned them up as they were gunky and took a emory cloth and they turned out clean. we put some penetrating oil on them and put them back in after putting the boots and clips on and they are not hanging up anymore. My friend who has been helping me knows more about this that I do and he also did the carbs and they are working as good as expected. When I put the Marvel oil in the plug holes it worked but when I had the front jacked up and started the car it was missing a little. What caused it was the oil ran into the end plugs and I had to clean them out and dry the plugs and it fired right up and when I took it out to try it on the road it took off like a banshee. The car is in great condition for a 35 year old. Thanks again for your comeback, Bobby
