I know of 2 for sale. I know the economy is in the crapper. really sucks. But this owner owns 3 and it is time for him to narrow it down to driving 1 of them and letting the other 2 go to some good homes and enthusiasts.

1 is a 2 time national 100 point champion

and the second is a 1970 that is in excellent condition. Almost every part has been gone through and redone.

I like scruffy looking 3.8's and early 4.2's. Not that keen on garage queens. There are to many in the UK.
I like the XJ-S more :).

The Etype is a despirately good looking automobile, you would have to be crazy not to like it.:)

I have worked on and driven alot of them over the years, in fact at present am helping a friend restore a 1964 series 1 coupe to beyond concours (sorry Mark)

Spent the most time with a Dk. blue 1968 series 1 1/2 4.2 roadster owned by my late friend, Paul Peppin who to put it mildly, drove the snot out of it and we had a great time driving around in that car.

I know exactly what an Etype feels like at 150 mph as he let me drive it that fast on County Road 22 one morning.

He came down my house during the winter once when his Volvo wouldnt start, seeing that Etype against the snow as a background was one of the nicest things I have ever seen.

It's sat in his garage ATM where it has been for 8 years since his death, his wife wont let it go(or drive it) so it just rots.

Sad.:(

What I would like to do to an XK-E would probably get me shot.

I always thought the "weak link" on the Jag was the boat anchor motor. I didn't think the V-12 was any better.

Put a new aluminum block Corvette motor (preferably the 427 small block) with all the electronic engine managment systems and you've got a GREAT car.

PS: Wouldn't mind putting a Chevy motor in a Jag sedan either.

I really like the Jaguar 5.3 V12 in my XJ12 :)

Smooth and turbine like it is.

I have seen all sorts of Chevs put in Jags around here (mostly 305), one Etype had a straight 6 Ford in it another a 289 Ford :crying:

I dont think boat anchor motors won Le Mans

If it weren't for the prices I would have an E Type in my garage rather than the Seven.
Anyone feeling generous a white or red 3.8 flat floor drop head will do.:)

The Etype (or XKE as its known in North America) has been an expensive car to restore properly for years now, the prices of restored ones reflects the moneys spent to get them that way.

That gunmetal grey roadster looks great BTW.:)

Thanks Wayne, it is such a beautiful piece indeed!

I would not say the 6's are boat anchors either, very capable in its own right.

My first encounter was with a 64 red E-type. What a gorgeous car that was.
The hammered aluminum dash, the flank of toggle switches and the sound of the tripple carbed 6 was enough to give goosebumps.
The gorgeous blonde that was driving it may have had something to do with the fondness of memory, that and the fact that she was my eigth grade science teacher that I had a school boy crush on.
I actualy got a ride in it and at the time the sensation was awesome. That long hood bouncing along and what seemed like effortless acceleration was a bit of sensory overload.
Yep, I like E types and would take a red 64 in a heart beat.

the very first sports car that I ever aid eyes on was a wine colored E type coupe that lived in my neighborhood in Indiana. It must have been 1970 when I saw the guy drive through. he had black driving gloves and I will never forget seeing that car..

we never saw cool cars in indiana, only GM products.

Neat story Brian.:)

A racing driver who lived in our street when I was a kid, Brian Butler had a opalecent maroon S1 3.8 E type coupe.

He drove past me one day, saw me looking and pirrouetted it around right front of me and sped off in the opposite direction without stopping in one fluid move .

It took me about 2 weeks to stop telling everyone I met what a great sight I had witnessed.
