This is a little old but still really good. I really like the last part where Tiff mentions the irony of the government always stating that we need more fuel alternatives and then having a good fuel alternative that isn't supported properly by the government. Hmmnn:rolleyes:

That is just pathetic that Ethanol doesn't get the back up it should.
Do any of you guys over seas ever run across any Ethanol stations?

yes, i use two fuel stations with that sort of fuel in theire offer. It's 92.8 cent per Liter. That means in order to the amount of fuel necessary to equall ordinary petrol it is not cheap in generall. But i have fun with it... .

By the way, Shell super 100 with advertised "extra power" costs 1 € and 40cents/Liter , so it is also not a cheap option.

In fact, i love the E85 fuel here in Europe. There are a lot of fuel stations, but those are not all listet in the official anouncements. I asked specialised persons here in Germany... .

So what kind of car are you pumping that fuel into?

The English LEF-friends know it : Im not Jay Lenno, but i own also a suitable car...

Well as I don't know anything about your car, I would love to hear more.

I've done it in the not perfect way of a fight against "Duty-Cycle limit". But lamda-signal under full boost is still fine... .

As i am known as a "vegetable oil car" user i was also interested in alternatives for ordinary petrol. After much discussion with other forum members in LEF i decide to go on the cheapest way with injection timing modulation. Bigger injectors are more professional, but i do not have the money for that... .

You can find the documentation under "my evil engineering" in LEF-projects page..

So I take it that you "vegetabilized" a Lotus Esprit?

So I take it that you "vegetabilized" a Lotus Esprit? no, fresh vegetable oil is my favorite fuel in a Ford-Scorpio 2.5 TD(Diesel car) and also liquit-fat from fast food industry. The Esprit runs with ordinary E85 fuel, or anny mixture from pur petrol to pure ethanol.

That is prettt cool. I have seen a few cars that run on vegetable oil. It was from a car show at the campus of Georgia Tech. What I thought was really fun was that it smelled like french fries when the car was running.

yes thats right, the smell is allways a bit strange. But it is mentioned as indication for a *not perfect combustion*. If the engine is fully warmed up and the injection spray pattern fine it should go away, ...or drop down mostly.

And the perfect thing is, you need no higher edjucation or engineering studdies to do that !! Those systems (with seperate fueltanks and solenoids)are simple to install.

Same is for converting to ethanol, but those systems are not so perfect in the power utput, especially if you have not chosen bigger injectors... .

(but who needs full 354HP in case of ordinary daily use !?)
