Its not worth $75K. and non-runners never fetch much money... I could see maybe $9K in its present condition.. I bet TonyK was watching it! He needs a yellow S2 along side his blue S1, white S1 and Ferrari 308.
Where did TonyK go? He doesn't frequent this site much  Hi Tony

is that the car that ran at Daytona 20 years ago ? I spoke with the team driver and owner a few years ago . I wonder if it is.. the owner lived in CA when I spoke with him and from what I remember he was a pilot.

I agree. 75K is a weeeee bit on the heavy side and not realistic at all. If it had a verifiable race history and some connection to a specific person of note... maybe more than 9K. You can get a lot with $75K! I saw a Type 22 Lotus not long ago for less than $75 - and while it could have used some tires, it would start up and run.

I don't understand how the owner expects to get 75K for it on the "buy it now" when in the write up he mentions someone stating a value of 25-30K
The write up is fair, but the buy it now price is totaly out in left field. The only place this car could possibly race is in Vintage class, again possibly depending on what the organizing body would allow.
The car needs quite a bit of work and would probally not be very competitive depending on what it was classed to run with.
Good luck to the future owner.

Its a kind of interesting curiosity, but its lack of race sucess warrants a much lower asking price IMO.
I think $10k to $15k is its real worth ATM.
It would have to be totally gone through to race it and that would cost at least $20k at a proffesional racing prep shop.
You can buy some much faster cars for $35k.

No, I considered it for the 6,500 price...but lets be honest I don't have that to blow right now anyway.
He is bound to relist it unless there are people already calling because it was on ebay.

I'd upload a pic of it if I knew how on this forum. I think it had a YAC engine(sports 2000?). I saved many pics from the ebay ad but forgot to save the sellers id. They wanted 40K for it. It a a blown engine with a rod sticking out the side of the block. It was not the lotus twin cam engine. It had the s4 turbo bodywork. There was a silver twin turbo v8 esprit that raced in 2004. Wouldn't that still be legal to race today? Maybe an alms gt1 or gt2 racer? Just curious. Yes, I know it's for sale. Please, lottery, PPLLEEEEAASSSEE!!!!:)

I helped work on that 2004 silver V 8. it was entered by Hypersport Motorsports. the car ran 4 races that year and didnt finish one race. at Daytona it iver heated. at Miami it broke bell housing and gear box. at the Glen it bent up the half shafts and at Barber it blew a head gasket.
its perfect right now and is a monster.. sounds like a dragster. Kirt Wightman did wonderful work on the car and built it by himself.
it is for sale and is a perfect race car.

Do you know off hand what pro class it could run in today?

we ran it in the Kino series a few years ago but that big V 8 wouldnt qualify for Koni today. it would be legal in any HSR or SVRA series but i dont think it would be legal for prio racing because of its age.
it is one mean car..
I had Garrett send Kirt a pair of " non legal " roller bearing turbo's which spun freely and were not legal at the time but the officials never questioned it.
I talked with Kirt about it the other day and I believe he will sell it for something in the 50 k range..
it is a bad ass sounding V 8.. the body is perfect too as is the cockpit. it has Motec and Motons..

The car was withdrawn from the auction and the bids cancelled.
Either the owner got cold feet or they had a offer they took.
I emailed them and got a sort of reply, but they arent being very forthcoming.
The straightforwards deals are the best and this aint one of them.:(

I guess all we can hope for is that someone will take good care of it and let it out to show occassionaly.

It doesnt exactly thrill me to bits as it has been fitted with all the later S3 bumpers and Turbo Esprit hatch, spoilers etc.
Also with the extra weight of the cage etc, it will be slower than a standard ROW car (unless the motor has been very uprated)
It does have the european spec carbs though so maybe it is breathed on.
Be alot more interesting to me If it was a Turbo though.

And why stuff S3 bumpers on it :(. Keep it period and it would be a lot more interesting.
Here's an S2 racer:

It says the car was raced in 1979 or 80 which would mean that the Turbo body parts may have had to have been directly sourced from Lotus as the Turbo was only available as an Essex at that point in time.
Expensive.
I will ask about it If the elusive gentleman ever gets back to me.
