Anyone going ? www.scca.com 400 cars entered in the event. mostly current stuff and not vintage.

I think I will head up there this weekend.

I think some ALMS teams will take this weekend and run there as test purposes.

I havent driven the Lotus up there all year so I may go up there this weekend in the car.

what a day at the track.. sunny, high of 65.. there were 300 or so cars entered. everywhere from Mazda cup Miata cars to F 3000, to Formula Indy and GTU classe.

I was strolling the paddock, came around a transporter and saw a 1973 Eagle Indy car.. needless to say I melted.

I approached and when I got to 10 feet away I could tell it wasnt a real Eagle. I spoke with the owner driver for a bit. turns out this 68 year ol guy from Chicago is bulding replica Indy cars. the Eagle that I saw was even built to replicate the 73 Eagle that my hero Gordon Johncock raced and won. the side pods, front nose and rear wing are identical to Eagle specs. the engine was a Dodge V 6 from the old Shelby Can AM days of the mid 90's.

the car provided 300 hp. 6 speed manual box. the car, looks exactly like a 73 Eagle. I sat in the car and was amazed...

his next project this winter is to build a replica of the 1972 Mclaren Sunaco # 66 Mark Donahue car...

he charges $39,000 for each complete and race ready car.

before I left for the day I filled up my tank with 112 octane .. my baby ran well all the way home..

What could you run that relpica Eagle in besides a regular track day? In other words...any classes for competition?

112 octane! Can that harm anything?

they have a class for that old Eagle replica. the guy runs it in class 7 in SCCA. I watched him run his event and he was really good. a 68 year old guy and he was having a ball.

he says the thing cant break.. its a motor that does not require much repair or maintenence.

he says he will build one for 39 grand..

tube chassis, Indy car front and rear suspension. Dodge Can AM gearbox.. it was soo cool.
