Someone asked a question on here the other day about who drove the Esprit S1 in the high speed driving scenes in "The Spy Who Loved Me" and of course it was Lotus test driver Roger Becker.

Lotus supplied 2 Esprits for the movie and the second was used as a camera chase car and was actually driven by Don McLauchlin who was Lotuses PR man at the time.

Heres an old pic of Don Mclauchlin in the Esprit camera car.

The rear suspension looks like its on the bumpstops!

4 people and a Panavision Camera will do that I suppose.

That is really interesting....so did they get their audio for the movie from the camera car?

I doubt it , they usually dub the car sounds on in post production.

Sounds like an S1 Esprit though (nice)

Very cool pictures!!!

I guess the only filming car at the time to keep ahead of the star Esprit going fast through the twisties was another Esprit right?
