This car has been taken care of since it came into my hands when I bought it over 6 years ago. I am selling the car unfortunately, because soon it will not have any place in the garage and car deserves better than that. It is a complete car with detailed records of my ownership and it has a clean history and title.
When I purchased the car it was running, but that was about it. It used to have electrical gremlins galore, but thanks to the combined efforts of me and my father (an electrical engineer) those problems have all been sorted. I have tons of receipts and records of service. I also have manuals, tools, literature and history on the car. It used to have real bad body problems but now those have almost all disappeared minus a few details I will touch on. The only two items that I want to make clear are: 1) that the AC does not work, but I have all the pieces in a box. 2) This car will not pass emissions as of right now due to the “performance” exhaust, or lack thereof. Other then that, the person who gets this car will be thoroughly happy with it I am sure. Feel free to drive it home to wherever you may live in the USA, the car will love the trip.

Electronics: All is in good order, except the fog lights.

Exterior: The front passenger fender has some rust on the inside by the headlight bezel and the passenger door at the very bottom. The paint is old and has some imperfections, but it still looks good and is the original paint. There is some cracking in the rubber moldings on the outside of the car and the passenger side of the hood on the corner has a good ding in it.
Interior: The drivers side seat has some significant wear on the side bolster where there is suede. Other than that, all the seats are in excellent condition and the power seat functions work. The passenger side door interior took a beating from the last owner, so it is in a bit of a rough condition (look at pictures). Otherwise, the famous clock is there and the headliner has been repaired and looks great. All the lights work on the inside as they should.

Drive train: All of the drive train has been taken out and inspected at one point or another, I know this car works as it should. It always fires up on the first crank (always has) The engine runs super smooth. It likes to run hot, but it won’t overheat unless you abuse it. It does leak oil, always has and probably always will. There has been a chase for years to find the best way to get it to stop leaking but it just won’t. Never stopped me from changing the oil every 3k miles and using only Mobil 1 fully synthetic 15W50 motor oil. First gear takes strength and the clutch does too, but it isn’t a car for the feeble anyway. All the power is there and the transmission and rear differential work just as they should.

Chassis: The shocks have no more than 3k miles on them and the car handles solid now. The wheels are the only factory option upgrades available at the time, vary nice touch. They are 15 inch BBS rims that have been painted to match the trim of the car and so they add to the sporty feel of the ride, as does the tower strut bar.

I never knew about your Bi-Turbo either Martin.

It's the nicest one I have seen in ages, they are all in pretty awful shape around here.

They ran them in the WTCC in the late 80's for a while (sponsored by Campari) and run by Cibiemme , but they were very unrelyable and never seemed to finish a race (Like the Toyota Supra Turbo):(

Thanks guys!

It is funny how all of the sudden there was interest in the car and I have actively trying to sell it for over half a year. A guy from Louisiana called this morning asking about the car, I said I would get back to him as I had to check with this local guy that came to look at the car on Sunday to see if he does want it. So I call the local guy and this info was enough to stir him to buy it in cash 2 hours after the phone call. After I sold the car today the guy from Louisiana left a message on my cell saying that if this local guy here that was interested in the car didn't buy it he would offer what turns out to be $1,200 more bucks than what I got today. What weird timing  That's just how it goes sometimes....and who knows if the the other guy would have paid up....it's always a gamble. :001_unsure:

And yes, I'm sure I will miss my baby. That was the 1st car I ever bought outright. I met my wife in college while driving that car....we have some memories left with the car.

...and yes that little booger could scoot, man was it torquey! I put many a mustang to shame in Podunk, Tennessee

What does any of this have to do with Lotus?

What does any of this have to do with Lotus?

Nothing at all.

That is why it is in the "Other Vehicles for Sale / Wanted" section.

If you look at what section something is in, you will know generally what it is about.

I have a major weakness for the Maserati Khamsin.

Its dart llike Ghandini profile, the fabulous detailing (small glass panel in the tail) etc., its all good in my book.

This is one I looked at in California 3 years ago , and I would have bought it If I had any sense at all.:crying:

Having driven a Khamsin, I have to say the car is sublime.

The steering is odd, but you acclimate to it quickly and as many have said before, the fast you go the better it gets. The sound is just classic big bore italian! The owner is a good friend of the family and is a big Maserati nut. He has probably 10 or so Maseratis like the Quattroporte I, Mexico, Ghibli, Biturbo, Mistral etc..... lucky guy.

I have to admit I have a weakness for Maserati. Such classy styling.

Thats an awfully nice Khamsin, Wayne. How did you let yourself pass on that one?

When I arrived to see it (at a classic car dealership in California) I found they had sent it out to get a couple of minor issues fixed.

So I go with the salesman to a small backstreet repair shop to have a look at it, and uppon arriving find the steering column all apart (apparently it would not self return as it should) and numerous pipes and valves in the engine compartment missing. The problem is with the Citroen owned years Maserati's, is that most repair shops who specialise in italian cars havent a clue how to deal with the cars complex Citroen derived hydraulic system that runs the brakes, steering headlamp lift and seat adjustment, so once the system has been apart, it can be a complex task to put it back together and get it working properly again.

If it had been cheaper to compensate for this I would have gone for it though.

Interesting, I didn't realize it had a Citroen derived hydraulics. Sounds like a nightmare to me. I would of ran after seeing what you described.
