I want to get a Lotus 7 sometime between now and next spring.. It would be a perfect car for the daily travels from home to work.

Brian,
Are you loking at a true 7 or a newer Caterham?
I am looking for a new car early in the new year and one of these is also on my list.

As for rain, well it is certainly a drier climate in Georgia than it is in the UK.
Brian, you know if you get a Caterham I will become your annoying friend who will always be there when you open the garage. :D
Just a subtle suggestion, buy a CSR260.

The early Cheshunt built 7's are full of period charm (and idiosyncracys) which make them an interesting and delightfull piece of British engineering to own (rather like a 1960's Triumph Bonneville motorcycle)Owning one is totally involving and you will really get to know every nut and bolt of the car.
They also are a good investment (immune to any sort of depreciation) and represent a great piece of Colin Chapman/Lotus history.
The Caterhams are OK, but the later ones are a bit too modernistic and turn-key for my tastes (rather like a Japanese Motorcycle).
Two cars that appear the same , but appeal to different types of owner.

Good point, it sounds like Brian should get one of each. :)
