They should re-shedule it for July or October to suit me.

I'll keep an eye out for your Orange +2.

Unfortunately the Elise racing has been cancelled:

The Elise Trophy rounds at Donington Park on 18th/19th April have been cancelled due to the event being cancelled by the event organisers MSVR.

Statement from MotorSport Vision Racing:-

MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR), the racing division of MSV, has been forced to cancel its scheduled race event at Donington Park on 18/19 April as the circuit does not possess a valid, full track licence.

Following widely publicised concerns regarding recent development work at the circuit, MSVR requested assurances from Donington that all necessary works for the venue to receive a valid track licence from the governing body of motorsport in the UK, the MSA, would be completed ahead of the MSVR 'Blast in the Park' event in nine days' time. Mindful of the importance of competitors' planning and arrangements, Donington Park was given a deadline of 1pm today (Thursday 9 April) to address these concerns. However, MSVR received no communication from the circuit.

A spokesman for the MSA has also confirmed that they will not issue the circuit with a track licence until the circuit has been inspected and fully complies with MSA regulations. Accordingly, MSVR has been left with no alternative but to cancel the event in order to give the competitors, marshals and officials as much notice as reasonably possible.

MotorSport Vision's Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer said: "It's extremely disappointing that this remarkable situation has occurred, and that we have been forced to cancel our event at Donington Park due to the lack of a valid track licence. This has caused significant disruption to all of MSVR's competitors and series, including Formula Palmer Audi, that were due to race next weekend."

"It is quite unsatisfactory and particularly unacceptable that we have received no communication from the circuit on the matter. We are currently in discussions with all our series and championship coordinators to arrange alternative dates and venues, and these will be confirmed at the earliest opportunity."

Thanks Mark,i`ve been looking for a news story from somewhere, the whole update program is going pear shaped, the tunnel that they`ve put in is the wrong length, this has resulted in a lack of run of on two corners.Last week they were granted a temporary licence but had to display permanent yellows on them,no overtaking and no "excessive" speed ,the lack of any form of direction from the circuit management is not a good sign for the G.P. in 2010,I should have calmed down by next Sunday so hope to see you and have a glass.Clockwork :)

It's this coming Sunday. And don't worry I haven't forgotten!

Club Lotus have moved the dates to mid April this year, rather than mid-March, which is good news as the weather will hopefully be better.

April sounds like it could be rainy too, but any bit helps right. Besides, it's more likely to be warm right?
Can't wait to see the photos!

Here are some pics of Donington. Another great day and seemed very busy this years.

Here are some more pics: Clicky (http://www.lotusespritturbo.com/Club_Lotus_Donington_2009.htm)

I got to sit in the new Evora and I must say it was very comfortable and the interior looks the biz.

Great photo's Mark and Clockwork , I enjoyed looking at them.

Mark, did you get to speak with Roger Becker? I presume that is him standing at the back of the white Evora with his arm on the engine hatch. Did the pink interior do anything for you?:)

I would love to see a pic of the M250 parked next to an Evora for a comparison.

Clockwork, you car looks great. Do you know what car the front turnsignals were originally sourced from on the +2? I know about the Anglia front bumper and the Consul Capri Windscreen, Alfa Giulia GT taillights (on the early versions)etc, but not the turn signals.

Thankyou Wayne, the sidelight/indicator was a specific Lotus design according to Mr Hickman,a thing Colin Chapman was horrified to find out but was too late to prevent, there is an indicator only version, possibly for export models, rear bumper is Wolsey Hornet.Clockwork :)

Didn't speak to Roger Becker, however spoke to one of the Senior Sales Executives on the stand and about Lotus's 5 year plan. The Esprit is next, followed by a new Elise.

Does look pink in the picture, it was a tan colour. You'll have to excuss my rubbish camera. Here's a pic I took of the dash:

It loks like there is at least 6" of clearance between Marks head and the roof of that Evora:ohmy:

I guess Mike Kimberley's somewhat lofty stature had a little bit to do with that!

The pinky looking interior seems to be called paprica and looks just as pink on the colour chart.:001_unsure:

I'm 6ft 5 and I fitted very comfortable and there was loads of head room. The reason it's comfortable is because of the American market, this car is intended for a much broader market than the Elise, so the Sales Exec told me.

Mark, simply amazing! I don't know what I would have done with myself with so many awesome Loti!
So were they letting just anyone go up and have a seat in the Evora or did you work some special privilege magic?

04-26-2009, 09:29 AM
Mark must have missed this Martin, there were three Evora`s on show.the crash test one ,a black one and a white one,no big crowds so you were free to go and sit and look at them, people were on hand to help and it was a pleasant atmosphere, all afflicted with the same bug. Clockwork :) PS the red elan in the pics.was for sale if you`re feeling flush, only £175,000

Hi Cowley, the "shooting brake" was made by Paul Matty, better made than the original which was made by Hexagon of Highgate a Lotus agency in the sixties who produced two based on the "baby" Elan and one in JPS livery based on a +2. The first one was nicknamed the "Elanbulance" and that just about sealed it`s fate. The Jps Europa in the pictures is not what it appears either, that was built by Richard Winter and has rear wishbone suspension and a 2ltr GM engine. Clockwork :)

Hi clockwork, thank you very much.
The Elanbulacetoday no exist? This is a copy? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1f/Elanbulance.jpg

I was read in the book of Lotus history that was made Lotus Elan fastback by Ian Walker racing and that was wreck on his second race. This is a copy of them?

And do you know what is this Elan? I read that is from Ian Walker, too. And he have a bizarre face...

Yes Cowley,Hexagons two Elanbulances still exist and are owned by the same person,Ian Walker`s two fastbacks are the other two pictures, the blue one was the second one and was recently for sale, the green one used to be registered XJB1 and the last time I saw it was owned by Paul Matty,so we have come full circle.Clockwork :)
