I need to upgrade my current radar detector. Could you provide me with a suggestion as to what is the best one on the current market? I am willing to spend up to $600 dollars or so...
Thanks for the help!
Jason
V1 is the only way to go imo.

Yep. Valentine is the one. Add in a dash police scanner and your set!

I have been doing a little research on the web and I have come across the escort 9500 series, which seems to be beating V1 in all tests. Does anyone have any experience with this detector?
Police scanner might be a bit much...lol...

Cannot say anything about the Escort 9500. Never seen it. V1 tells you 'where' and has been the best one reviewed for quite some time. However, there is always a better game headed out to the shelf? I'll have to give that Escort a read.
As far as a scanner... nothing is too much! Set a modulated frequency scanner so you can mount it anyplace and "tune in" via the FM station set. Go ahead and put a laser deflector on your tag - or better yet spray your tag with that clear polymer sold in the back pages of Car and Driver. It difusses laser and makes it nearly impossible for a camera to photograph it! Spring for a jammer too! They are great. And hey! If you can snag a GPS locator - get one of those too! Police cars (almost all of them now) have GPS signals on them so they can be tracked and monitored by dispatch. You can plug into your car and "see" where they all are on your GPS screen!
It's Cannonball Time agian! WAAAHahahaha....
