Kylie,

Hope y'all, (Texas for all of you), made it through the latest ground shaker posted on the BBC news this morning. It was reported as a 7.8 just off the coast of South Island.
May have felt it here, or that may have been a touch of gas, not sure. :crying:
All kidding aside, hope everyone is okay.

Al in Texas.

I never knew New Zealand was affected by earthquakes.

I would think Kylie , Simon (Mr. Kylie), the sheep and the Sport 350 are OK as Auckland is quite a ways away from South Island (on North Island).

Hey guys thanks for your concerns, NZ has a large fault line right through the middle of the country there are two techtonic plates pushing against each other, hence why theres big spectacular mountains and loads of thermal activity. In the deep south is were it was located and no body hurt. In that zone Geologists report about 50+ small earthquakes each day. Most we never feel as they are kms deep down.

So far this recent earthquake was felt as far as Wellington with is central NZ. But no I didnt feel it up in Auckland too far away. When it hit I was actually skiing last night at the time so was never going to feel it anyway

NZ did send a tsunami warning to Australia though just in case
