We had a great day at the Classic. Highlight was standing on the pit lane wall watching the cars going 200mph past. Noise of the Lolas and Chevrons was amazing.

Great looking event Mark, thanks for posting the images.:)

Good to see the old Ex. Jo Bonnier Lola T70 again, my dad knew him as he dated Jo Bonnier's girlfriend's sister for a while back then.

It was really hard on everyone when he was killed in the crash at LeMans.

Found this old film of the car on UTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5II8TjgSXSQ

Thanks for the pics clockwork.:)

Alan Minshaw in a Bird Cage Maserati!:thumbup:

I would never have guessed that was what he would end up racing 22 years ago when I was working on his BTCC CHMS Toyota Corrolla.

Those old art deco car transports like the Ecurie Ecosse/BRM ones are great and add a huge amount of interest to the pits.

We dont get to see neat stuff like that over here much.

The other red one is a Bizzarini Strada.

The Engine is a 327 cu in V8 Chevrolet Corvette , packing 4 sidedraught Weber DCOE's.

I remember the Ghia Supersonic bodied AC Cobra from when Rod Leach had it (for what seemed like forever)

Mean looking car that one.

Yup.right again,I thought the sidedraughts might not help, this F-N is not a Le Mans replica though,it`s the real Mcoy. http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/P1030872.jpg I`m off now but try this for a puzzle http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/P1040091.jpg http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/P1040093.jpg AAAGH ! :)

Good ones Mark, serves me right for not looking at all the Cobras,I missed that one,but there is such a lot of ground to cover,I did not go and look at the planes either and so missed an autogyro as well,I parked up with Club Lotus who are always very kind and let me :),this was early Sunday and there were quite a few there already. http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/P1030865-1.jpg

Its the Rapport Forte Estate (looking a bit dishevelled).:(

Based on an XJ6 platform, financed by the old Patrick Motors Group in the Midlands and designed by Chris Humberstone (wonder where he is now)?

Hope its restored soon!:)

I often wondered whether it used a Lotus Esprit windscreen?

Yes Wayne, built on a Daimler double six it has lead a very undisturbed life, the photo does not show the state of the exterior,it must have been stood outside with no cover for at least ten years.all the magazines had left cards asking if they could do an article on it.:) I can`t think what to post next, i`ve got a metal block, any ideas? http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/P1040030.jpg

Right,as well as the Hart block above Jaguar were having a clearout of their collection at Silverstone and Brawn were selling all the old Honda stuff that was cluttering up their headquarters so here is the catalogue and prices http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.sh/pubweb/publicSite.r?sContinent=EUR&screen=catalogue&iSaleNo=17259 :)

Right,as well as the Hart block :)

I spent about an hour unsuccessfully trying to figure out what make of engine the block belonged to.

I knew it wasn't a DFV , but have never examined a Hart V8 all that closely.

Good one!:)

It puts everything in perspective as to how incredible the array of cars truly are.
Is that a Maserati Cooper in the 6th picture of the 1st set of pictures from Mark?
