Had a busy few weeks, OK I've been tinkering a bit, early part of the year.
The Excel sits much stiffer on the road now.

New GAZ dampers on all four corners and poly bushes on the fron ARB.

Although with the dampers backed right off it's like being on a cross channel ferry.

The old ones looked a little corroded

Amazing the difference a set of shocks make isn`t, yet they deteriorate so slowly we (I) don`t notice it. :)

The Armstrongs you took off look like they came from the Titanic.:(

Who makes those GAZ brand shocks?

I used to like Spax shock absorbers , but the last set I bought were crap and didn't last a couple of months before they were pissing out fluid from the seals.

I have Koni's on the Esprit (I put them on because I got a deal on them), but truthfully the OEM Armstrongs were still in remarkably good shape considering they were over 25 years old.

I got them through

http://www.autoshocks.co.uk/

about a 4wk lead time as made to order.

Been very impressed so far. Good range on the adjustment.
No immediate corrosion, as has been reported on Excel sites about other makes.

Also very competetively priced.
About £50 a corner.
