First time event in Port Perry today, that's about 15 miles north of our "Motor City" Oshawa. Thunderstorms are forecast on and off for most of the day so I'm leaving in a few minutes with an attempt to beat them.
Super Seven vs. Mother Nature:D
I'll keep a Lotus count for you and take photos provided my camera does not become an aqua cam.

Well, at least by "Bond accounts", the Esprit cars should be fine.

Close, I drove half way there in thick fog and then about 2 hours later the heavens opened up and it poured for an hour. Added to the "Brits" authenticity:D It was around 11.30 so I took an early lunch and left the restaurant to find blue skies.
It was a good turn out for a 1st year event on a day that did not show much promise weatherwise. About 130 cars total. 5 lotus showed up 3 Sevens and 2 Esprit, the organizers put Lotus in the "Special Interest" category and I took 2nd to an Esprit Turbo. Strange cos there were only 2 Marcos there and they had their own class?
Here are a few pics.

Looks like you had a good turnout Andy, the Mantis is not that common over here, very Dennis Adams Probe series parentage and a bit of a let down when it came out,Esprit is right up Wayne`s street,as well as the Imp,:))

Looks like a great meet Andy, loved the Sunbeam Imp Sport.:)

I should make the effort to make time and get out to one of these events myself one day.:(

I never knew someone had a Mantis in Canada BTW.

A bit too bizzare for me though.

the front of that Sunbeam looks exactly like the front of my dads oldl 63 Corvair.

it does look like a fun event.

Yes Brian ,the Hillman Imp /Sunbeam Imp and the Singer Chamois were all influenced by the styling of the 63 Corvair which was considered quite an exciting and interesting car (in Europe at least).

One of the young engineers that worked on the Imp project at Rootes as it was then known was Mike Parkes who went on to drive for Ferrari.

Here he is in the Ferrari 512S battling it out with Pedro Rodriguez at the BOAC 1000 Brands Hatch 1970 (neat tie in to the 917 thread eh?)
