I was reading a while ago about Lotus working with Jaguar on the chassis design of project XE (a compact front engined sports car that will replace the F type) and more reciently of a rumour that Jaguar will be building a new XJ220 type rear engined supercar.

Makes perfect sense (to me anyways) that Jaguar and Lotus share the new Esprit platform , cutting costs and fast tracking development, its possible this has all been going on in secret for a while anyways.

Anybody else heard anything?

Heres an article from January,http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/233642/jaguars_reborn_xj220.html

If Jaguar produce a new XJ 220 type car I'm sure it will look absolutely stunning.:mf_dribble:

Ian Callum and Julian Thompson are two of the best British car stylists ever and I bet they have been dying to do a rear engined Jaguar supercar for well since forever!

So the new Esprit will have to be pretty damn stunning to be able to beat that talented team.

The new Jag is supposed to be aimed at the Audi R8 so I guess it will be a similar price to be competitive, so where will that leave Lotus with the Esprit?

Will it be cheaper and more basic than the Jag or more exotic and hence more expensive?

wow.... a stunning shape.

Looks like an Audi mated with an Aston to me. I do not care for the head lamp or tail lamp shape. almost ruins an otherwise good looking shape.
