Left Lane News has published a photo of an unusual looking Exige taken by or in the Lotus works at Hethel.

Apparently it is fitted with the same Toyota V6 as the Evora.

Judging by the flared fenders the wheels and/ or track are wider than a standard Exige and it also has 5 lug hubs like an Evora and huge front brake rotors.

It could be a prototype for a new Exige or a cunningly disguised project Lotus have undertaken for another company (Toyota/Jaguar?), who knows?

The Exige kinda looks like a Scarab beetle in that colour.

I am intregued to see what Lotus design are going to replace it with.

You never know these days, Lotus are into everything.
I've seen a few references to Toyota and Subaru (Toyota now owns 16% of Suby) working on an all electric 2 seat possibly all wheel drive electric car, one speculated that the Elise would be the test bed. So who knows?

Yes they are Andy.:)

I saw a Kia Soul (disguised) at the factory last October.

Lotus seems a logical choice for quite a lot of manufacturers to get engineering work done.

Here are all the ones I remember who have been Lotus engineering customers:-

Ford
Vauxhall
Opel
Chevrolet
Pontiac
Isuzu
Renault
Rover
MG
Aston-Martin
Jaguar
Toyota
Daewoo
Hyundai
Daimler-Chrysler
Proton
Delorean
Chrysler UK/Talbot
Spyker
Tesla
Military stuff

must be a fair few more we dont know about!

Lotus Engineering also publish a monthly e magazine called Pro-Active that discusses automotive engineering.

Yep, lots of stuff has been pounded around that old WWII airfield over the years, I wonder If the factory keep records of all the different types of cars/trucks/bikes that have been driven on the test track?

Probably not, but it must run in the thousands by now.

Didn't Ayrton Sennas 96T hold the Hethel lap record?
