Hi All,
Newbie here! My names Mark and I've got an 87 Steven Esprit Turbo. Some of you might know me from the other Esprit forums; LEF, Unity1 or Yahoo. Looking forward to spending some time on here :).
Best regards,

Welcome!
I thought the G-bodied cars were built through '87, with the Stevens cars starting with MY 1988.
Were the Stevens cars introduced earlier outside the US?

Thanks for the welcome! I've owned my car since April 2002. Wanted one every since I can remember. I fitted SE wheels to it to improve the handling. You can read all about the ups and downs of my Ownership here: www.lotusespritturbo.com/My Car (http://www.lotusespritturbo.com/Mark_Blanchard's_Lotus_Esprit_Turbo.htm)
Also loved the Elite 503.
The Stevens came out in October 1987. Mine is one of the last cars to roll of the production line that year. The Stevens is often refered to as a 1988 car, as Lotus intended it for that year, they just decided to release the car early to confuse everybody!
I've never heard of any 87 Federal Stevens. I'm sure they were released in early 1988. Anyone had any issues with the Bosch K Jetronic fuel injection system?

Not that could not be traced and corrected. While it cannot be "tuned" in the newest sence of the word, it is very reliable and widely used for some time. Most issues that might developed will get back to a relay that has played out. The system does seem to be a bit sensitive to voltage, so a bad battery can show up in the way the car runs (it will stumble) even though it might start and seem okay. I have been able to get all the relays at Advanced Auto Parts and Autozone - so nothing rare.
If you ever 'open' the fuel system, (new fuel pumps for example) go ahead a get a new accumulator if it is original. It seems to be a weak point (not for Lotus - but the system in general). I have had to replace them on Mrec. and Ferrari's when adding a new pump.
I am not common, but I like the K-jet system fine for what it is. Think of it more in carb. terms than EFI and you will be fine.
