Lotus Elan Advert circa 1965

I was readind an old issue of Car and Driver yesterday(November 1965) and came across this neat little ad for the S2 Elan.
I think Lotuses current P.R. dept could learn something from this understated ,minimalist, cheeky style of ad, that P.R. release with Colin Chapman and Takuma Sato's likenesses carved into Mt.Rushmore was pretty cringeworthy! (as was the dead last finish in Alabama).

Real ads with humour that appeal to true car enthusiasts, I guess thats why I like them so much.

One gets the impression the guys behind them actually knew about cars and were proud of the engineering aspects.

I feel like nowerdays, the powers to be at Lotus arent all that interested in the true enthusiast, but are persuing the un car knowledgable, but rich set who are looking for a flavour of the month kind of car.
