So are these well proportioned (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290478862071&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1154)? What was/is the price from Westfield.
Not my choice of a lump but I'd still love one, oh for more garage space and for a wife less frugal.

Elevens are truly beautiful cars.
That lovely body was designed by Frank Costin and refined and produced byWilliams and Pritchard who did the bodys for most of the early Lotuses (road and racing cars).
They also produced alot of the fibreglass body parts before Lotus were capable of producing them in house.
They were as important to Lotus in the early days as Pininfarina and Scaglietti were to Ferrari.

I actually have access to everything I need to build a replica Eleven and/or a 17... glass fiber molds and all... it is all in storage and I have no time or money... but one day I will! :thumbup:Three Elevens that I know of were built using these molds and toolings and they were very nice. One of them is used for historic racing now, but I do not recall the owner's name a the moment.
Twin cam Mazda Miata motor (and tranny) fits in perfectly... and there were a couple more costly motor options as well...

As a man with no forsight, real ones with a Ford sidevalve engine could be bought for £30, and sold for a ten pound profit,I am talking to a man with an original Westfield kit from about `83 all complete but never started to assemble and talks are at £6000  now where`s that bed of nails. Talking to another man yesterday who used to work in Canada for a man called Bill Brack who was a Lotus main dealer selling Elites,Elans and Europas, they used to supply and fit a Brabham conversion that had different cams and other top end parts, and in one corner of the workshop was a Lotus racecar stood on it`s end with no engine and with the body offset that had been built for Graham Hill to race at Indianapolis, they used it for parts and just took bits off it as and when they would do a turn, enough of my ramblings.:)

So Westfield (http://www.manikllc.com/XI.html) wants $18900. for a kit today, buyer supplies the donor parts. Looks like it's a nut and bolt build except for a couple brackets need welding to the rear axle and shortening of the drive shaft. So for $25 to $30,000. depending on drivetrain a guy could own a look a like Eleven. Stop thinking now Andy the devorce lawyer alone would cost twice that.:nono:

Don`t know if they still exist but the Xanthos was an exact copy, there are others that use an MX5 donor, but none are cheap.:)

Not cheap but the Westfield could probably be built for about $25,000 and what could you buy with that much performance and fantastic looks.
I have to say that it has me thinking although I did say to my wife the next toy would be a little more civilized so it might have to replace the Seven rather than be an addition.

Whilst I love the looks, what killed ours was the lack of any weather protection and even then I did not stop a the paper shop for a packet of cigs as it was too much hassle getting in and out. :)

See I would not miss the weather equipment as I've only used the Seven's doors once and the roof is permanently in the garage.
