Tony Fernandes is digging in his heels about using the Team Lotus name.

Apparently, Turkish Danny has never set foot in the Lotus Racing building, which is not far from the Lotus factory.

I think Tony Fernandes has been stabbed in the back, but it doesn't surprise me as it looks like its standard business practise for this fellow.

I admit, I wasn't a Lotus Racing supporter, but I hate seeing someone publically set upon in this way , so I'm going with the underdog in this one, hoping they will triumph over adversity in the best Lotus tradition.

It will all end in tears,Lotus will have to race as Renault and that looks like a bit of a gaffe to me when I`m sure they could have had a happier time with Mr F, The F1 side of Lotus was always separate from the road car side and the boat side was a sparate entity, but watch out Danny needs a yacht and he might reclaim their name as well! :)

I think Tony has the win in his favor as far as name use. David Hunt has stated that he and Tony have had nothing but respect for each other even when they had past miss-understandings or bad communication.

At the end of this I think Group Lotus PLC Malaysia will look like a bunch of fools... at least to the core Lotus followers.

Judging this forum I think that's already past tense:D

I read somewhere TF could lose $35m in future appearance moneys, if he has to drop the Lotus moniker. May explain his tenacious grip on the badge. Also read there has been no factory involvement in his cars.

I do like the idea of the factory being involved in the engineering and even F1 mules circulating the factory test track.

So for me the jury's still out.
