Hard to believe it's been 25 years since the sudden and unexpected passing of the Guvernor on December 16th., 1982
I have assembled a little montage of photo's in memory of the brilliant, charismatic and innovative man, without whom we all would all not have our Lotus cars which bring us together on this forum because of our love and interest in them and the facinating history of the company that builds them.
His spirit and philosophy of design innovation and hard work is still very much in evidence today with the men and women who work at the Lotus company in Hethel, Norfolk England.

Gone but never forgotten by those who recognise genius. The gap he has left in the world is huge.

Thank You Wayne for helping us take a moment and remember what he means to us all, and individually, as the owner of a Lotus car.
Perhaps this thread could become a photographic record of Colin Chapman's adventures and achievements... he was certainly the subject of a million + photos...

Thanks Eric.:001_smile:
I think making this a photographic thread of Colin Chapman is a great idea and a fitting tribute.
Here is one of my most favourite photos showing Colin Chapman and Ronnie Peterson in the midst of what appears to be a discussion of some sort.!

Love the idea.
I have to say he truly has affected our lives. Also, his impact on all things that we drive on the road is virtually impossible to calculate. Just look at how he challenged all the big names in racing and forced them to change just to keep up. When you think about it, as an example, Ferrari wouldn't be where they are today if it wasn't for Lotus....it's a funny way to think about it but it's true.

Great thread, but I do not think I have any that are not already posted here or on other threads!
Great photos!

Heres another great photo of Colin Chapman which shows the genuine joy and delight he experienced when Team won a GP.(in this case Elio de Angelis's first GP win at the 1982 Austrian GP)
His black Failsworth Mariner corduroy hat is nowheres to be seen, indicating he had just launched it into orbit. Apparently most of the time he would pinch Peter Warr's hat and throw that when he wasn't wearing his.

Heres another iconic photo of Colin Chapman and the 1982 JPS Lotus Grand Prix Team.
It was used on the cover of Chris Harveys book " Lotus the Complete Story" and was taken on the start finish line of Brands Hatch.
