Ron,even with my limited imagination you are a very lucky man, that many mince pies would last me a week, although she might catch a chill standing there in that outfit waiting for me to eat them. :):)

So much for my Jedi powers, that is some present Ron,I will be there on Sunday, all being well, today I have been to a friends place who will have a couple of Jags.there, not one his normal very quick ones so he thought about an engine upgrade from the old cast iron block that`s in it ,to an alloy block with D type heads,a quick call to C. and G and he is not as keen as he was to swap lumps,£45,000 for the extra horses and a 60kg weight saving  anyway back to Goodwood they have lots of aero stuff planned and 15 spitfires if we are lucky.:)

I purchased an official programme with my ticket package. A Telegraph headset radio comes with the programme.
Despite fears of torrential rain, Saturday turned out to be quite nine weather-wise. I'll post some pics later in the week when I get to a decent Internet connection.
Gotta get cleaned up now and have some breakfast. Then off to the beautiful country lanes of New Forrest in the Sevens. Planning a drive in their native environs and a stop at Bealieu today too.

Fabulous pictures Clockwork. Please share some more if you have them.
I will start to post some of mine now that I have had a chance to get a bit of good internet access today. Please note that I will cross-post some of this material to share with my home town friends on the British Speed forum.
I will start with our travel to the Revival.
My friends Erik, Mark, Roger, Stein, Pascal and his wife picked me up at the airport in Brussels on Friday morning. From there we caravanned to the U.K. in three home built variants of the Lotus Seven with Erik's Corrado following along as chase/luggage vehicle. The weather on the continent was beautiful azure skies and warm, with temperatures around 25C. We drove in the open air on the motorway to the French border:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6123/6163815470_07261b3384_b.jpg
Once into France we took local roads through small towns and the rolling French country side near Dunkirk:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6161/6163840570_1c9c53fd8a_b.jpg
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6178/6163845580_73982eda1b_b.jpg
Our initial goal was the Chunnel departure point at Calais:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6159/6163859292_a97e6631c7_b.jpg
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6168/6163869654_9e7808f9af_b.jpg
This was my first time to travel by car in the train in the Chunnel. It is very efficient and easy. Once your train is ready to board you simply drive on. You sit in your car during the under channel journey. It takes about 35 minutes to travel the 50km to Folkestone. The round-trip tickets cost only 135 Euros per car. Here is a view of our accommodations on the train (note that flash photography is prohibited on the train so as not to disturb the fire alarms):
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6178/6163351277_0c5908b0a4_b.jpg
Once in the U.K. our good fortune with weather continued and we were able to take full advantage of the Sevens in their native environ in southern England between Folkestone and Bognor Regis:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6169/6163377349_8b0076ef0c_b.jpg
Stopping a couple of times to swap rides so that all got to take full advantage of the Sevens:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6166/6163375739_dca7ab7dd4_b.jpg
And of course we had to stop whenever we felt the need to refuel along the way:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6157/6163381689_e8f0fc6a16_b.jpg
Upon arrival at our lodgings we put the hoods up on the Sevens and called it a day. We shared a few beers and tales of our day's adventure while we finalized our plans for Saturday's outing at Lord March's estate. We also fretted about the weather that lay ahead. In the parking lot we found that Aston Martins appear in the area near Chichester are as common as Chevrolets in the USA (at least during the Revival weekend):

Magic Ron,pics and commentary,I was there on Sunday, weather was not so kind, but racing was "interesting" lots of slip sliding away ,the paddock was the who`s who as ever,Mr Dance was casting an eye over the cars in Classic Team Lotus`s bit,J.Stewart was going to drive a 250f in the tribute parade for J.M.F.,Mr Monteverdi was reducing cars to their component parts faster than his team of support workers could put them back together,I resisted the temptation to ask if a certain someone was having a nice day, anyway back to more random pics. http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/goodwood%202011/P1060055.jpg http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/goodwood%202011/P1060057.jpg http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/goodwood%202011/P1060063.jpg http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/goodwood%202011/P1060067.jpg :)

I'd like to say that Saturday dawned clear and bright. But that was not the case. It rained off and on all night and into the morning. After Breakfast we headed out to the parking lot and decided that the show was just beginning. Just next to our cars was this interesting little Suzuki:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6173/6173295337_09eea19a66_b.jpg
The finned brake drums reminds me of the old Subaru 360:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6152/6173823260_d1c74f12bb_b.jpg
Because of the weather forecast we left the Sevens at the hotel and we all piled into the Corrado to make the trek out to the track. Here is the scene upon walking up to the entrance:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6179/6163408281_32927a8eec_b.jpg
For an auto race, we noticed a significantly larger number of ladies in attendance that at other events. I'm guessing that the fashion atmosphere sparks a higher level of interest, sort of like horse racing. Also noted was the greater level of awareness of the technical aspects of the cars among the ladies than at events in the U.S. In general, we also noted that even with the threatening weather conditions, people were walking about with giant smiles on their faces. Overall, a truly infectous atmosphere. Very cool!
Access to the facility is pretty much wide open. Upon entry at ~0800 we were able to walk around on the track freely. This view is looking down the main straight toward the start/finishe line from the direction of the chicane:

We crossed the track and went into the infield and the paddock. Even at this early hour admission to the paddock was restricted:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/6163992490_830010e6aa_b.jpg
as a result, we wandered about and peeked in to whatever we could view from the outside. I say this with tongue in cheek because our access was very good, even if we could not enter the main paddock directly. Immediately on crossing the track we came upon this wonderful stable of cars from Morris Garage:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6169/6163429077_48bd95e03a_b.jpg
This group of cars made me think of Don Stanford's wonderful book, The Red Car. I read this book when I was a boy and it has stuck with me ever since. I halfway expected to see Frenchy poke his head up from under the bonnet of one of the cars as I looked on....
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6151/6163971832_ff13875b24_b.jpg
As we walked a bit farther on we came to the corner of the restricted paddock. Inside we could see beautiful examples of cars that I had read of in my youth:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6161/6163475371_e22512d27d_b.jpg
We walked along the edge of the paddock and gawked, like schoolboys gazing at a photo of a nude Sophia Loren or Marilyn Monroe, or any beautiful naked woman for the first time. Inside paddock, such was the array of magnificent and famous machines of years past:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6155/6164085537_9ab52ab19e_b.jpg
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6171/6163461403_affa53f1d8_b.jpg
A bit farther on from the GP cars, we came upon the sports and GT cars of the 60s. Wonderful old Group 7 / Can Am cars in the center of the paddock:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6168/6163640319_13ec00461e_b.jpg
The Group 7 cars were sourrounded by gorgeous 60's sports and GT cars, many beginning with the Letter F. Anyone for Pizza?:

Ahhhhh.....The F cars.
The early TRs are always a sight to behold with their cut-away front fenders (or should I say wings? -- After all, this was Britain!):
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6180/6176367833_14439ebd01_b.jpg
And while the 'Breadvan' was suprisingly quick out on the track, in Saturday's practice session the Ferraris were lead by this iconic 250 GTO:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6176/6176895160_b0d4d8cf25_b.jpg
Now we came to my personal favorites. A whole row that traced America's aspirations in international GT racing in the 1960's. It all started with Eric Broadly's Lola Mk VI, more commonly referred to as the Lola GT:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6160/6176892338_b94f58a4b2_b.jpg
Earlier I mentioned that access to the paddock was restricted. The lady who was checking passes at the gateway noticed my rabid interest in the GT and volunteered to me that I was welcome to come on in and take as many pictures as I wished. Then a few moments later, as I lay on the pavement to get this shot, she joked that she hadn't given me permission to go to bed. As I ponderd my reply she seemed to read my mind and told me to be careful, as I might get what I asked for! LOL:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6162/6176364075_a0e8026747_b.jpg
Right next door began more F cars with several Ford GTs in a row:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6178/6176892732_08f40bedf5_b.jpg
As a young boy I built several models of the cars in this row. My favorite among them a carefully detailed 1/32 scale kit by Cox. It was in the metaqllic blue with white stripes livery with a magnesium chassis and magnesium wheels. To see many of these legends together, bracketing the range from it's roots, all the way to the rarely seen final effort 3.0L Cosworth powered car was truly a moment to be savored. Simply breathtaking:

The sights before us were overwhelming to say the least and we lost focus many times. We wandered about and were easily distracted. We heard the sound of some engines coming to life, and like fish attracted to a shiny thing in the water, off we would go in the direction of the music of the engines. This time, the siren call was of the early GP cars warming up:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6177/6176359105_7a68de157f_b.jpg
Still searching for the source of sound we stumbled on to the exit from the paddock to the box just in time to see the cars heading to staging of the grid:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6158/6176896940_4ded95779e_b.jpg
While most of the cars were started in the paddock and driven out, several were pushed out and/or bump started on the road between the paddock and the box:

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6152/6176897610_776a412a6b_b.jpg
The action was happening so quickly that it was difficult to hold concentration with the camera. Here I was unable to effectively capture the efforts of the team to roll the car out, even though they were only inches in front of me:

And the cars just kept coming:

Wonderfull!
I love the smell of Castrol R in the morning.
An old friend of mine has a Bugatti type 39/35B, it is truly a work of art.
Its supercharger coupling is made out of elephant hide, I always remember that fact for some reason.
Saw its engine torn down, pretty sure it has a one piece engine block/head assembly that cured head gasket problems.

Thank you Brian.
I'll take that as a que to post some more for your enjoyment:
As I mentioned in an earlier post, there seem to be many more ladies present at tis event than at other similar auto related activities. As we wandered about we noted that the organizers had made significant efforts to present not only the autos and aircraft in proper period, but also with a bit of feminine charm as well. These ladies earned the nickname "Blue Belles" from my companions:

As the 500cc cars took to the grid they were joined by these lovely row girls to assist the drivers in finding their proper starting positions:

Over in the vendor area these ladies were walking about and serenading the fans with a wonderful acapella trio performance of 30's and 40's tunes:

In the vendor area I was perusing the contents of a bookseller's stall and turned around to se the recently retired Sir Stirling Moss standing directly behind me:

A little further on we came across this chap autographing his book. Nick Mason was just another guy on the scene. "By the way, which one is Pink?"

The berm at the end of the main straight was a fabulous place for a picnic:

As I looked through my camera I mentioned to my companions that the lady in red seemed to have drunk her companion under the table. Apparently she overheard my comment as this wry smile came over her face:

Speaking of beveredges, there was a Rob Walker display that featured a workshop diorama. This area also provided some tables and an opportunity to taste the Walker products. Here a lovely lady offers a sample of Johnny Walker Red Label to my friend Erik:

When we asked if we could have another round she guided us inside the workshop diorama which was complete with a bar. She then took our picture as we toasted the day's events:

Nor is there a "bog" as at the old Glen!
However, I do have this pic from the scene on Saturday afternoon in Munich at the Theresenweise, behind the main row of Oktoberfest tents:

I think that this may be more in keeping with the type of activity you were thinking?

Good ones Ron,you get the atmosphere really well with the single seaters coming out, don`t know if ITV4 makes it over there but there is an hour of this on tonight at 8pm uk time, the 196`s were for the Fangio tribute parade,in their day both Fangio and Moss said they were not nice to drive, but given the chance----

Nick Masons 250 GTO looks as nice as ever, he has had that car for ages, and actually bought that car when they were fetching less than a million!
I believe the participation to compete at Goodwood is invite only, the saloon cars were the entry level admission to the event, but I have heard that the rich fellows are now spending there fortunes on the tin tops, so bang goes the common mans means of being a part of this event.:crying:
Just looked it up, Nick Mason apparently paid $85,000 for the GTO in 1978, which was alot of steam even back then.
They are now worth 8 to 16 million (pounds) depending what you read, exellent investment Mr.Mason.

Hi Ron
Really appreciate you taking the time to host the pictures and telling us about your experiences at Goodwood. I bet that was something to turn around and be face-to-face with Sir Moss.
Seeing the Ferrari GTO reminds me of one at the Legends of Motorsports event this year at Barber Motorsports museum in Birmingham, AL. They drove many of the race cars to an english village in Birmingham. The GEO was parked next to the curb. Several kids were throwing plastic water bottles at each other just feet away from the GTO. The parents of the kids could care less and had no idea the value of the GTO. Never saw the owner so I guess he wasn't too concerned but I was.

Hello Louis, the GTO was raced by Brundle/Hales,it was about 5th on the grid behind the Cobra`s,the track was wet and there was about £100,million at a conservative estimate,Ron`s photo of Mr Mason who owns the car shows how much the prospect of letting those two drive his car is worrying him ,here`s a vid of the grid, and more vids on the page. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBrxMHzLEqA

Mark Hales is a great driver, he drove for a team I worked for in the 80's and was brilliant (shame the car wasn't)
He worked as a journalist for Car magazine at the time and had just done a roadtest of Nick Masons F40 which was the first to arrive in GB.
Martin Brundle isnt bad either, one of uncle Kens boys

Mr Davies might not concur Wayne,Whitsun Trophy, bad move, bad outcome, happily only the Crossle and the ego were damaged, picture courtesy of the http://www.chichesterweb.co.uk/goodwood/revival11/revival11_images/crash1.jpg http://i514.photobucket.com/albums/t347/clockwork012/goodwood%202011/crash1.jpg  As an afterthought I should explain the damage is not as bad as it looks, the chicane is made of polystyrene for events like this so hitting it is not a terminal affair, but it does look spectacular and does its job.
