I forget what the name is but when is the classic car rally in NZ? In other words, the big famous one?

No Martins right Targa New Zealand is huge and gets great coverage. What makes it so special is that all sorts of exotica from GT40s, Ferrari to bambinas get to tear up stages of our kiwi sealed roads. Its awesome!!!
One of our close friends races his 968 in it and has an absolute blast.

Theres also Rally NZ which is part of the WRC. Rallying is huge here. Infact for the size of our little country motorsport is strong as ever producing world class drivers.

I caught part of Targa NZ on Speed last year at 2AM (CDT). It was awsome! All sorts of cars that you do not see everyday. I hope they put it on Speed again this year - AND I know about it so I can record it!

They have a car rally in New Zealand!
Aren't they worried about mowing down all the sheep?:D

Beautiful sheep arent they. I know you like them Wayne your forever hounding me after those white fluffy creatures!
Theres this one too. The scenery is incredible and how they manage to control their cars with a wheel hanging over the side of the cliff is crazy stuff.

My entire knowledge of sheep comes from a Warner Brothers cartoon.:001_unsure:

P.S. If I fly to N.Z. can we enter your car in the Targa New Zealand?

In the Narva section of the tour perhaps Wayne, its more of a fun blat to give people a taste of what its like but nothing serious. Lots of expensive cars etc to be found here which would suit me better.
We know of some people through the Lotus Club who entered their Lotus Esprit V8 in the Targa last year and I seen the thing up on the hoist at Xmas time, boy oh boy the stone chips and dents underneath is shocking - poor car its had a lot of work done to it to keep it on the road :crying: I dont think I could see my car in this state.

Been thinking of doing the Targa Newfoundland for years , Kylie and started to convert one of my cars to the required specs, but changed my mind when I saw some of the maxi-dollar opposition, and like you was worried about destroying my own car.
I have an idea for next year however, and I am going to pitch it to someone I know who has the funds to do it properly.
The car would be a GM pre-production prototype which would be bound for the crusher anyways, so it would be a nice way to send the old girl off!
Someones already had a go in an Elise, I would have thought though an Exige with the blower was the way to go in a current Lotus.

Wow you should come over and do one Wayne, I would love to be on your team and be the pit b*tch , if I had the time money and expertise I would be doing it myself of course in something cheap like a cortina or honda. Our NZ Lotus dealer races new Exiges every year in this event. The Exiges are VERY competitive as with a modded 111R's. Unfortunately he dosent always finish :crying:

Phoned the powers that be last night about the rear wheel drive 350 hp V8 car I was after , only to be told that General Motors have decided not to go into production of it (in North America)and will be replacing it with another crap Front wheel drive V6 unit.:crying:

There is another car I may/may not be able to get, but they already have more than enough publicity in the works for that one.

And they all come from the factory just up the road from me. :cowboy:
Wayne - Don't get me started on the sheep / NZ thing again - I'll end up getting banned by my southern hemisphere counterpart.
