The "Qvale"1963 Works Jaguar lightweight sold at auction in 2003 for $1.25 million and it was found in a similar condition to the 1961 coupe (in the US), so If it can be proved that this car has a Jaguar "works" provenance, I dont see why it cant be worth what they are asking.

A car like that would get you a guaranteed invite to participate in the exclusive 2008 Goodwood Revival , and allow you to race in the company of some very expensive and interesting motor cars(and famous drivers).

p.s. Mike Kimberley (present CEO of Lotus) actually ran the Jaguar lightweight competition programme for a while before he left to work for Colin Chapman at Lotus.

Interesting point. Of course this means that one would defenitely need to be certain of the cars lineage before it was purchased.
