Mario,
As our Italian Lotus Buzz representative :) , tell me how Lotus is doing in Italy. I have seen many Elises there over the years, do you ever see any classics running around?

In Italy today Lotus sells around 80 cars per year......At the end of 90's with Elise S1 also 150 per year. Italy can to become a big market for Lotus(don't forget its the second world market for Ferrari). There are many Lotus entusiast as me:001_tt1:,but the problem is that the people that buy Elise\Exige are 88% track day fanatics or precicely entusiasth. The common people prefer Porsche:yawn: for comfort and reliability. There is a semi-official Lotus club.Lotus Club Italy with very appassionate people also about history and classic Lotus models. The president has an old and rare Turbo Esprit Giugiaro shaped:w00t:.

Italy has produced some of the greatest automobile designs ever and the original Esprit was definately one of them.
I would have loved to see Giugiaro get another shot at doing a current day Esprit, I would be facinated to see what his take is on the design today.:)
Good to hear that there is a club there. The wife and I have had some serious discussions about moving to Italy after retirement. Love the country and had a great time with all the people we met there. A nice bottle of vino, a hunk of salami and some cheese and bread, and a nice veranda somewhere in the hills of Florence. Ciao baby!

I think the Esprit is much more of a Miami Vice tune... but if you gotta have Pacino, Scareface would be more correct for the production time period...
"Miaameee. I lobbe dis town. J-you know? Itsss like a gigantic *****, just waitn' ta get F('d)"....

Bertone,Pininfarina Gandini ecc.But Giorgetto Giugiaro is my favourite choice for Lotus Esprit.:beerchug:I love maserati merak bora shape.Lamborghini Gallardo is also a Giugiaro design its a modern esprit shape to me.The first Autocar rendering of new Esprit were in that direction.......
