I spoke with the gentlemen that I found the old 7 in a barn a few months back.

he finally told me what he had to have for the car. he wants 24 k for the car. I believe that is too much considering what the car needs.

oh well.

He is off his rocker if he thinks he's getting that. Let it rot, his greed has killed it.

yes. the car has been in a barn since 1987 and I do not expect that it will move in the next 20 years.

I agree. From the prev. description it is not like you are going to get in that car a drive away without some seriouse time and effort applied. He really needs to look at the maket price for these cars today and then seriously have a realistic look at the car's condition!

IMHO: The guy does not need (nor does he want) to sell the car, so he named you an over priced sum that is...

I'd love to get my hands and tools on that car. :(

Most people who own a non-functioning classic/antique automobile think that their car is worth what they see selling on the internet as a fully functioning car.

I came across a guy selling 3 triumphs all advertised as either restorable or in excellent condition and he was asking prices appropriate for a condition grade 2 or in one instance a grade 1. I went to look at the cars and we discussed the pricing. They were rotting in place very badly. The best car he had was a grade 5 at best. He really thought his cars were worth what he was asking for them. He had gotten several extremely generous offers prior to me seeing the cars. He turned them all down because of the "low ball" offers. I explained the "high nature" of the offers he had gotten and gave him my offers which obviously were even less than what he had gotten before. I added that I would check back with him monthly to see if the cars were still available and would drop my offers by $50-100 per month. After about 3 months of checking, he told me he had sold the cars for his asking prices and that I didn't need to check back anymore. I stopped by his house about 3 weeks ago and all three cars are still in the driveway rotting. "The deal fell through" was his response. I offered him a better than current offer and he still declined. Those cars will rot in his driveway forever unless he comes to his senses.
