does anyone know who this years guest speaker will be at Indy ? Hopefully, and I mean HOPEFULLY the LOG committee has selected a former Indy 500 driver or winner.

wouldnt that make sense ?

I know several past drivers / 500 winners that would LOVE to be a LOG speaker at the speedway.

anyone know who this years speaker will be ?

I know you wont be disappointed about next years LOG speakers.

anyone know who it is this year ?

I know Donald Davidson will be doing a talk which I am looking forward to because he is a Brit and knows Lotus very well.

Next year is at Barber again... Yippeee!!!! I'll def. be there as I have already sceduled it (although it will not officially be opened until after this years event). Dan Gurney was the/a speaker at the last Barber LOG and the track folks I have spoken with stated he is planning to attend LOG next year again. I do not know if he is speaking?

I have not heard who is at Indy this year as I cannot go. i start getting depressed if I read too much about Indy...

yep. I was the speaker chair when we had it at LOG at Barber for LOG 24 and I flew Dan and Evi Gurney out for LOG. ( I have known Mr. and Mrs. G since the 80's and he graciously agreed to be our speaker. ) he is a wonderful man.

I had a red V8 waiting for Mr. & Mrs. Gurney when they arrived at the Winfree Hotel that weekend. he led the caravan from the hotel to the track.

I had Mr & Mrs. G fly to Atlanta and Mr. Barber met them there at the airport and they drove to Birmingham with Mr. Barber in the big RV. It was EPIC.

Mr. Gurney was a wonderful speaker. We didnt know how close he and Jim Clark really were.

When Mr. Gurney attended Jims funeral, Jims father pulled Mr. Gurney to the side and told Dan that he was the only one that Jimmy Clark feard. at that moment Mr. Gurney broke into tears. much like all of us in the room.

Mrs. Gurney stood up and yelled " someone please ask another question and change the subject "

we couldnt believe that Mr. Gurney was soo touched by that.

He quickly went into his friendship with Chapman.

those days back then were soo diffent than now.

I was soo proud to have Mr. G there. Mrs. Gurney, is a native of Germany and she said the Birmingham countryside reminded her of Germany in the 60's.

I had Mr. Gurney autograph my car.. I get chills just thinking of LOG 24 now.
