Hi, spotted the forum on a post in LEF.

Current Lotus ownership.
Turbo Esprit
Esprit S3
Europa Special - not Europa S.

Over in Norfolk, as is Kimbers... MrK I spotted you were active ont his esite currently.

Curently no Lotus drivable.
Turbo has the gearbox out, blocking the S3 in the garage, and the Europa needs its chassis replaced.

Greetings everyone! :) Another Lotusholic here!

My name is Tony Krncevic, and I am hopelessly addicted to classic/sports/exotic/GT cars from the 1970s and 80s, particularly those with the engine behind the seats and in front of the rear axle! ;)

In the stable currently are three Lotus Esprit S1s and a Porsche 944. I've owned about 30 special interest cars in my life, but somehow I've ended up with three of the same thing. No surprise, as the Esprit is my favorite car in the world, period! I do all of my own work both mechanically and cosmetically, and have done a bit on the side off and on. I'm thinking about diversifying my little "collection" with a Maserati Merak, but I already have too many cars! :D

I'm a bit of an S1 anorak, and have been keeping track of VIN numbers and charting detail changes made during S1 production along the way. I must be insane. :D

Toledo, Ohio, is home, but I was raised in Cleveland, and lived in a few places in between. Besides cars and everything associated with them, my hobbies include bicycling, rowing, traveling, modern architecture and design, writing, and things related to publishing. Most of all, I have a beautiful, wonderful wife who means the world to me.

Cheers, and sorry it's so long!

Congrats on the new forum, Martin, and I hope it takes off!

- Tony

Great intro Tony, glad you joined the forum. I can tell you from experience that Lotus and Maserati mix very well. I happen to have one of each. :)

Greetings everyone! I'm a noob to Esprit ownership but I am hopelessly addicted... I have an 88 Esprit turbo that I've enjoyed since May.

I'm Greg Wilhelm-Olsen. Born and raised here in Northern Kentucky. A total gearhead... Partially because my dad practically raised me at the Mid-Ohio race track in the 70's. He was the chief timer. I wish I could remember those Can-Am cars! Anyhoo.... this is getting long...

Current line up: 59 triumph TR3 ongoing frame-off restoration, 65 Austin Healey 3000, 70 Datsun 240z series 1 #370.

Currently trying to get the Esprit's Bosch fuel injection tuned a little better.... I suspect I have a few vacuum leaks so I'm gonna replace all the vacuum lines this weekend... beats housework anyday! :D

Hello Greg, welcome to the forum:)

About 6 years ago I was lucky enough to be at the Can-Am reunion at Elkhart Lake, and got to see and hear alot of those awe-inspiring cars.
Jim Hall bought the majority of his Chaparral cars (but sadly didn't run them), but I did get to see my favourite Can-Am car run, the ex. Jackie Oliver Shadow DN2 Twin-Turbo, which is the fastest accelerating road racing car I have ever witnessed (1200 hp), it would leave every other Can-am car for dead on the start finish straight (until it caught fire)

This isn't that very car, but it is its sister, which If I had $295,000 to spare I would buy in a flash.:)

that Shadow Can AM car was designed by a buddy of mine who lives in Vegas . his name is Peter Bryant. pebryant@aol.com

he would LOVE to hear from you and your thoughts about that car and how much you liked it.

Peter also designed the Dave Mcdonald Indy car called the Roller skate that they ran in 64 . he was killed when they came out of turn 4 and he was pinched. car exploded and then Eddie Sachs hit the debris.

you should email Peter and tell him that you liked that old Shadow UOP car.

Peter is in his 70's now and just finished a book about those Shadlwo cars.

he would love to hear from you.

Oh, Peter also worked with Mr. Chapman and Keith Duckworth at Lotus in 57 - 59 when went to Lemans.

shoot peter a email. he loves to talk about those old cars and he is the nicest guy.

he is a legend.

Brian

Thanks Brian, I will email Peter Bryant.

I'm pretty sure though that Tony Southgate designed the DN2 can -am car (he seems to have been credited with it) , but of course he may have designed it and Tony Southgate "inherited " it as Peter Bryant had left Shadow by then.

My friend who owns the ex. Alan Jones DN8 F1 car, was down visiting Don Nichols this summer, Don still owns alot of his old cars, he proudly showed off the Matra-Shadow that he has been hiding in a store and lock for 20 odd years!

no kidding ??? I didnt know that car was still around. where is it ?

WayneB

It really is in a Store and Lock in California in exactly "as last raced "condition!

Grant Beath (who used to own DN8 4A) and Dean (who now owns it) got the impression that Don Nichols is looking for a buyer for the car.

I would love to hear that Matra V12 shreek again!
