Hi Everyone,
After a lot of soul searching I've decided to sell my 1990 Esprit SE. It is pearl white with a blue interior. It has 56350 miles and is in great mechanical condition. I have had the timing belt, water pump, alternator, plug wires, cam cover gasket, and brakes replaced. The mechanical charge cooler pump has been upgraded to an electric one. I've added a blow off valve to the turbo. It doesn't overheat in traffic and doesn't leak. My garage floor is completely dry. It can be driven anywhere.
If you know of anyone who might be interested please let them know about my car. Its located in Lexington KY. I would like to get $24,000 for it.
If you have any questions or would like to see any more pictures please let me know.
Many thanks,
Stephen

I got an email from Stephen.... He needs to sell his car quickly. Although I have never seen his car in the flesh I believe it to be in top condition... The original seats are available with the purchase.

Price is negotiable under $19k.... Make him an offer he cant refuse!

I'm with Greg... keep the car... I do love those latin girls though. Still... keep the car. There are a lot more girls and Esprits in the world! Sadly, i have never been able to find a girl with an Esprit (or other exotic car) that was not already married, or in one case, more intrested in her girlfriend than me. And I will add that Basic Instinct sorta killed any thoughts you might think I had...:huh:
I need something like this...

Now that I have had some thinking time... I thought that the pearl white and blue interior was done only in 88' with a couple trailing into 89'?
Apparently I was mistaken...

Hi Guys,
One of the hazards of dating a girl from another country is that you have to deal with the government and a little thing called the "Department of Immigration". Unfortunately my girlfriend's work Visa renewal was denied and I REALLY need to sell my car in a hurry. I'm in a bit of a bind and I hope I can find someone who would be interested in my Esprit.
Its had all the major services completed and it runs and drives great. While I don't have any records from the previous owners I have the records from all the work I have had done. Since I've owned my car for only a year and a half I still owe $17,000 on it. Right now I would take anything over that amount for the car. Its a great deal on a great car!
Pearl white is the original color. It has been repainted by a previous owner but if you pop the front hatch you can see the original pearl white paint.
If anyone is interested in my Esprit or knows someone who might be, please let me know. I will be putting it back on E-Bay this weekend and I really hope it goes to someone who will take care of it.
And in case anyone asks, Yes, my girlfriend is worth it.
Thanks,
Stephen

Best of luck Stephen. I know it's hard to let it go but these vehicles are replaceable and God willing you will have another dream car one day.

that was a nice car. this car was Jack Ansley's own X180 R .. it sat at Road Atlanta for years. it was parked at the Panoz building and guys like Gunnar Jeanette would run it from the Panoz building down to the track to test the Panoz race cars.
neat car..

Now it makes more sense that the car was in the area now that I know the Jack Ansley part of the story.
Back then I knew little.....not much different from now :)

Hi Everyone,
I am the textbook definition of "motivated seller". I've been trying to sell my 1990 Esprit SE for $17,000 but haven't been able to move it. I really would like to sell it so I'm going to reduce the price to $16,500. If anyone knows anybody who is interested they would be getting a great Lotus at a great price.
In the next few days I will be relisting it on E-Bay with a $16,500 reserve. I really hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it and enjoy it as much as I have.
Wish me luck!
Stephen

I have been watching the market close these last few months... and NOTHING is moving short of Barrett Jackson. there is a really nice Mondial I am aware of, good history etc... the owner needs to sell the car due to some losses in his business this year. He has dropped the car well below fair market IMO... not one call. He has decided to keep it at this point rather than take such a hit. Selling the car would really only buy him some time before he is right back in the same place (so he says). He is prob correct. So, he is keeping it. I really hate to say this, but you might need to settle on the idea that you will not sell it for anything close to what it should go for....

Stephen, I feel for you, it's a tough go of it to sell something you love for much less then what it's worth. Hopefully someone with the funds will wake up and realize what a deal this Esprit is!

Good luck with selling the car it looks a peach.
Cars are just not moving at the moment. Id be inclined to hold on to it or store it somewhere rather than just give it away. I seen F360 get sold for 135K NZD a month ago. Newish Bently 90K NZD. An Elise 111R is on the market for 50KNZD and S2 elises not moving at $40K which really is the steal of the century. I could go on and on. Bottom line people who could afford a 50K car previously cant afford a 20K car now. Not many people can say they are sitting pretty at the moment. :(
Is it a Mondial convertible? What price is he trying to sell it for?
Pete

Kylie, I agree. If he doesn't absolutely need to sell it, waiting a while will save you a few thousand.

It is a convertable Mondial. The owner, however, has taken the car off the market for the reasons noted above. He really did not want to sell it and he reached a point that selling it really would not help anything. So, since he gets so much from the car (as we all do with the cars we love), the car is no longer for sale.
My friend Karl that bought the 308GTS some time ago had also decided to sell it as I previously posted. But Kylie is spot on. Nothing is selling and buyers are wanting sellers to give stuff away. Brokers are even worse as a whole right now. Karl loves the 308GTS, but he decided he wanted an Esprit after he drove mine and met some Lotus folks at Barber! But he will not give it away just to have an Esprit. Some broker actually was trying to get him to let it go for $17K USD! Please!!! Karl has decided to keep the car unless somebody pops up with the asking price firm.
Karl would really like to have Stephen's Esprit, but like me, he cannot get two cars of this nature at this time. So, I agree. Store it, drive it, keep it... but do not give it away to someone. If nothing else, it will hurt the market in general if people start giving stuff away.

Well I have to keep abreast of sports car values as a part of my business, and whilst the ultra exotica (Miuras,Ferrari 275 GTB/4, Bugatti type 35 and so forth) seem to be holding their higher values, the more mainstream exotica (Ferrari 308, Esprit, Maserati Merak, and even Ferrari Testarossas and Lamborghini Diablos) are for sale at much lower prices on the whole than they were last year, at up to 20k off what they were worth then.
I suppose the middle class really is dissapearing ATM, but If one has to sell I think better now than next year as I think it will get worse before it improves.

Naaa... it is insured. Steal it! Then "find it" at a later date - years later - in a barn someplace when the values are better.

Well, I hate doing this but I really need to sell my Lotus. Who knew weddings were so expensive! And we are having a small wedding!! I can't imagine what a large wedding must cost! And the government doesn't help either. Paperwork for a Non-imigrant without status ain't cheap.
If anyone knows anyone who would be interested in a great 1990 Esprit that can be purchased for a song (and $16,000) please let me know. I've had a couple people appear interested on E-Bay but they were pretty flakey.
Thanks!
