What about all the rubber, belts, hoses rad and brake, caliper seals etc.. Would you change all fluids?
And Wayne, your best guess what will it fetch? |

I have been watching that auction for a while trying to resist the urge to drive down the road and look at it as I know I will want to buy the damn thing.
It depends how it has been stored really, rubber hoses, belts and bushes etc can last a very long time If kept in the dark and are not subjected to heat, but of course they should be changed If the new owner intends to drive the car to be on the safe side. Seals can get chewed up when the metal surfaces they seal again't get corroded, so its common for shock absorbers to start leaking and transmission and engine oil seals to need changing as soon as the car is driven again. Changing fluids is manditory and I would keep an eye on the brake calipers and slave/master cylinders for leaks, rebuilding them If necessary. The A/C compressor may also need attention as all the freon and oil may have escaped over the years. I would also have a good look for any damage caused by mice and rodents as they like to nest in cars whilst they are stored and knaw on wires etc. causing all sorts of electrical problems. The tyres will have probably taken a set and flat spotted (If the car has been sitting on them for years), its a shame to change them though as original Goodyear NCT's are now as rare as hens teath. Nice looking car though, I value it in the $30k range myself, even allowing for a few items that may need changing its still the closest someone could get to owning a new Giugiaro Turbo Esprit exactly as they came from the Lotus Factory in Hethel. Could be a good one for a Lotus Museum maybe, interesting Canadian history and its the same colours as the flag.

It finished at $20k reserve not met .
I already have a Turbo Esprit I have spent a fortune on (over $30k including the $20k I paid for it 10 years ago), I admit I am a glutton for punishment but I am not going down that road again. Someone should buy it who knows absolutely nothing about Esprits like I did 10 years ago
